Sort Them Ducks Movement and Camera Upgrades

The shop is wide. These ranks make crossing it feel like a stroll instead of a commute.

Movement

Movement in Sort Them Ducks is the hidden half of the economy. Carry decides how much work a trip does. Movement decides how long the trip lasts. This page is for sprint, crouch, jump, look, and zoom. Bindings stay on Controls. Spend order stays on upgrade order. Height tricks stay on high shelves.

Speed ranks

Buy speed after the first carry ranks. A faster walk with five ducks is still five ducks. A faster walk with twelve is a different game. Sprint, if it sits behind a purchase, belongs in this cluster. You will recross the same tile hundreds of times; shaving a second off each crossing is the least cinematic upgrade and the one you feel in your feet.

Turning speed is not only an upgrade. Raise look sensitivity. Preview writers did, on both mouse and pad, and still mentioned slow turning until the slider moved. Do that before you spend coins trying to fix a settings problem with money.

Crouch and jump

Crouch is how you see ducks that rolled under lips and how you stop the interact prompt from grabbing the wrong plank. Jump is how you contest top rows. Controller jump failed at launch; Patch 1 restored it. If jump still does nothing, update the build, then check the bind, then treat it as a known issue.

You should not need a paid rank just to look up. Patch 1 opened full pitch. Paid movement ranks should make the jump-to-prompt feel less clumsy, not unlock basic camera physics.

Zoom and FOV

Zoom is useful for reading a distant sign and dangerous if it sticks. Patch 1 fixed zoom leaving FOV wrong and high FOV clipping through walls. If the world looks like a sniper scope after you cancel zoom, toggle again or restart the session. Do not buy a new rank hoping it resets a stuck camera; fix the toggle first.

Handheld and performance

On Deck or a laptop, cap FPS before you buy speed you cannot feel because the frame time is already 40 milliseconds. Performance tools explain the Ryzen launch option and why dense piles stutter. Speed upgrades still help; they just need a stable frame to attach to.

Cloud swaps can desync shelves while keeping skills. If you suddenly sprint through an empty-looking shop that you already filled on another device, wait on Steam Cloud. Movement ranks are not the bug.

When walking feels invisible, you bought correctly. Go back to placing ducks. The walkthrough needs your feet more than it needs another paragraph about sprint.

Movement during the last hour

Late-game movement is less about buying another rank and more about not fighting the camera while you hunt stragglers. Look up first, hop second, place third. If you are still sprinting through finished aisles, you missed a tick on the checklist. Slow down on purpose for Tower colors and window belts; speed is a bad idea when haze or extras are the real puzzle.

On a controller, re-check jump after every patch in case a bind resets. On keyboard, keep crouch on a key you can hold while looking up so the prompt stays on the plank you mean. These are habits, not purchases, and they matter more than a final speed rank you will not feel over a podcast.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions players ask after a long sorting session.

Should I buy speed or carry first?

Carry first, then speed. Fast empty hands still make extra trips.

Why can I not jump on a controller?

Launch bug. Patch 1 restored controller jump. Update, then recheck the bind.

Why does the camera clip through shelves?

High FOV plus zoom bugs. Patch 1 targeted both. Exit zoom before you buy another rank.

Does movement matter on Steam Deck?

Yes, but cap FPS so the extra speed is visible. Unstable frame time eats the upgrade.
